A long layover in Singapore - Yes Theory video
Note: I haven’t been able to update the blog in the last little while but I’ll be on holidays for the next two weeks and I’m back to posting a tonne of new content - stay tuned!
I’ve done some terrible journeys in my time. For example, I flew Kiev to Gdansk, spent the night there. After a big night out, I flew to Edinburgh and spent a 6 hour layover there, followed by a 7 hour flight to New York Stewart Airport, a two hour bus into the city and then the 15 hour bus right back out of NYC to Toronto. Needless to say, my $250 trip was a bit rough.
I’ve also spent some time in airports and not while flying on a $26K business class ticket around the world like my parents. Instead, I flew Ryanair from Dublin to Malta airport with an overnight stop in Milan Bergamo. While Bergamo is a lovely place to spend a layover, the airport is a classic Ryanair Airport - it’s far from the main city, there aren’t many amenities, and it’s terrible to sleep in.
That being said, on long layovers I usually go and check out the city, because why not? Well, the boy’s at Yes Theory decided to spend 4 days in the secure area at Singapore Changi Airport. Matt, whom I lived with at McGill, must have listened to me rave about the Singapore Airpot, consistently rated as the best airport in the world, as it was even ranked the best airport in the world to sleep in!
The Yes Theory boys “seek discomfort” by trying new things, like spinning the globe and heading to the random place that they point.
In the video they checked out the pool, the movie theatre, and the hotel while they were there. Needless to say, maybe Matt should grab the American Express Platinum so next time they can use the lounge! Although not something I would try, I had a great chuckle with this creative video, maybe I should challenge Matt to a week long trip to every continent, but in economy?
Would you stay in any other airport besides Singapore?
