Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Review

Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Review

The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre is a clean, central business hotel located in downtown Vancouver. According to Tourism Vancouver, it is the largest hotel in Vancouver with 746 guest rooms including 70 suites and over 50,000 sq ft of meeting space. It was also where we stayed for the last few days in Vancouver.

Booking

Booking the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre can be done on Marriott’s website using cash or Bonvoy points. The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre is large hotel that hosts conventions, thus Off-Peak nights are during the weekend. That being said, even with COVID-19, most nights are not designated off-peak, although the nights are relatively inconsistent. In general the hotel will cost 40K / 50K / 60K Bonvoy points at Off-Peak, Standard, and Peak rates, although there are currently promotions for PointsSavers nights this fall.

Regardless, it’s cheaper to book using cash, as currently the Local Stay package (Marriott Code L9Z) with comes to $139 including tax and parking. This code was the best option for the day that I stayed there.

Interestingly enough, the StayVancouver promo is on right now (similar to the StayRichmond promo we used earlier in our trip), but it looks like the local package rates are marginally cheaper then StayVancouver. When you’re booking, make sure to check both rates.

Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Arrival

We pulled up to the centrally located Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre in the early afternoon, ready to watch the Raptors game that night. We left the car in the driveway while we went to check-in, although we had to leave the keys with valet in case they needed access to the car.

The South Tower is closed until May 2021

To get to the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, it’s about a $20 Uber to the airport from the hotel, and closer to a $30 Uber if you’re coming from the airport. Taking public transit to the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre isn’t hard, as the Vancouver City Centre SkyTrain is only 10 minutes away (4 blocks).

The front desk was friendly, and they actually changed our rate to include parking (we originally were not expecting to need to park). The front desk mentioned that they had upgraded us to their biggest room that they had available. The agent at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre mentioned that the South Tower would be closed until May 2021, taking all their suites and half their rooms out of commission. This makes sense, the hotel has 37 conference rooms (with the largest seating over 1,300 people) and conferences more than likely won’t be back until then.

We took the elevators up to our room. The elevators were outfitted with signs, hand sanitizer and signs promoting physical distancing on the elevator. While the signage was well done, mask usage among guests was about 75%. While it’s tough to control guests, all staff wore their masks.

We were on a high floor of the hotel, which meant we were supposed to have a view, unfortunately the fires in the Pacific North-West meant that we were smoked out.

It was a smokey one

Our room was a basic Sheraton room, although it was recently renovated (2015) unlike the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel, which I stayed in earlier in the year. It was bigger than most city hotels, with a small living area that had a desk, drawers and a large TV (with Sports channels, perfect for watching the Raptors game).

There were also two seats.

And two comfy beds

They weren’t nearly as crisp as they could be, but they were comfy!

In the near corner of the room, there was a mini fridge, two bottles of water and a closet that had a suitcase rack, a safe, and an ironing board

The bathroom was simple, but clean. The toiletries were individually wrapped and overall the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre provides a clean, top business hotel.

The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre provided masks and hand sanitizer for everyone.

They also had specific hotel procedures. Unsurprisingly, the lounge was closed.

Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Amenities

There are several amenities at the hotel, including a Starbucks, a Fitness Centre, a Lounge (closed due to COVID) and even a liquor store!

This hotel has great Platinum Benefits, as they gave us a drink each night at the bar and breakfast either delivered or at the Cafe One restaurant in the lobby. We had breakfast in the cafe, the menu read as follows:

As I was meeting Ricky for an early lunch, I went with the avocado toast while my friend went for the full Canadian breakfast.

For those of you feeling Room Service, the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre room service menu is as follows:

The Sheraton Wall Centre also has a fitness centre, which was open when we were there. That being said, I went for a workout and there were several COVID procedures in place. Importantly for some, the Pool was closed.

That being said, if you get a time for a workout at the Sheraton Wall Centre, you get a whole room to work out in. While it’s nice, it’s also hard to get a workout done when you have a mis-matched set of weights.

The Point

The Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre knows how to provide a solid overall experience in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown. While it doesn’t have the amenities of a more leisure hotel, it’s the best Marriott option stay while on business in Vancouver.
