Review - VIP Lounge Punta Cana

Review - VIP Lounge Punta Cana

The Point - The VIP Lounge Punta Cana was disappointing compared to its sister lounge in the other terminal - it’s only worth it if you have an unlimited lounge pass.
— Distant Points

The VIP Lounge Punta Cana is located airside in Terminal A, after security check and beside the Victoria Secret.

VIP Lounge Punta Cana Entrance

It’s accessible with Priority Pass (which I received with my American Express Business Platinum card) and Lounge Key or you can pay $50 for entry. The lounge is also used for business class departing travellers (although I wasn’t able to enter on arrival), as no other airlines have lounges at PUJ. The lounge provided Wifi, although it was only marginally faster than the airport wifi.

While the showers and bathrooms were really clean, there were no towels to use the showers, which was a bummer as I’d spent the full day on the beach (and we weren’t given a 4 pm hotel checkout).

While some food was continuously replaced, most of the food looked old and stale. I chose items that the attendant has just brought out. The few things that I did eat were just fine.

There is a limit of two beer per person in this lounge, but this wasn’t enforced in my experience. In fact, I grabbed a few beers to help me start New Year’s Eve with a bang!

While the VIP Lounge Punta Cana in the new terminal has a pool (yeah, a freaking pool), the older terminal that Air Canada departs out of has a walled-in outdoor area that doubles as a smoking area – we gave it a miss.

Unlike the Air Canada Cafe, It was quite difficult to find outlets, as there weren’t many in the lounge. While the seating was adequate for our stay, it’s annoying not to have an outlet at every seat.

The Point.

Overall, the lounge represents a place to grab a beer and relax, especially during peak period, but overall this lounge isn’t one of the best Priority Pass lounges that I’ve been to.
